TROPHIES – ACRYLIC

Acrylic trophies in standard and custom designs

TROPHIES FOR ANY OCCASION

We can source a wide range of acrylic awards and trophies, as well as creating custom made designs.

Acrylic is a popular choice as it can be custom cut to shape, is very durable and has a crystal clear finish, it actually has better clarity than glass. It comes in a range of colours and can be easily customised in shape and size. We can also customise stock designs to create something special and unique to the winner, without having to create a custom design from scratch.

Acrylic can be customised with laser engraving which comes out a frosted white colour. We can include company logos and use a range of fonts to suit. Colour printing is also an option, to create an eye catching trophy or if company colours are required. Our graphic designers can produce a professional looking layout or you can supply us with your own engraving designs. We send proofs before engraving to ensure you will be happy with the result.

As you can see below, acrylic trophies come in a large range of colours, shapes and sizes. Making it a popular choice to align with company, association or club logos, colours and values.

What is acrylic?

Acrylic is a polymer which is also called perspex, lucite, plexiglass or PMMA. It has great clarity and strength so is used in applications such as airplane windows and the dome keeping the sharks off you at Kelly Tarltons’s.

Generally it comes in sheet form and is then cut into trophy shapes. After this process the surface is left very rough. It then goes through a series of sanding and polishing to bring it back to a clear shine. On thinner pieces a flame is used to polish, but this creates undesirable lines and imperfections on thicker sheets which is what we use for trophies. It can be cut into almost any 2D shape so is very popular for custom designs.

It is cast in liquid form at the factory, so colour additives can be including giving a wide array of colours to choose from. When engraved it comes out a white colour, it can also be printed onto in colour.

What are acrylic trophies good for?

The main reason acrylic is so popular is the huge number of designs to choose from. A material like glass is easiest to cut in straight lines meaning the shapes are limited. With acrylic anything with curves, circles and bends is possible. The range of colours also makes if more visually appealing and there is a wide range of stock designs to fit any purpose.

Acrylic is also very durable, while still having the clarity of glass. When bevels are cut into the design to catch the light, it is indistinguishable from glass at a distance. It’s durability makes it an ideal candidate for perpetual awards. We often have requests for awards that will be passed around the office or shipped to different branches every month. A trophy like this will be subjected to many bumps, drops and scratches. Acrylic is able to withstand this kind of punishment, it can also be re-polished to remove any damage it does pick up.

It is also popular for corporate awards. Sitting on a desk or counter still does not afford the luxury of safety and they often get bumped and knocked over. Also over excited winners or those that have over indulged at presentation ceremonies are prone to dropping them on the night! It’s use for corporate trophies is also due to the range of colours. Often companies would like awards to reflect their branding, so the shapes and colours possible with acrylic make it ideal for these corporate trophies.
